The 10th TCI Global Conference took place on 8-12 October 2007 in Portland, United States. 358 participants from 42 countries exchanged experiences and discussed strategies around the subject "Collaboration, innovation and sustainability".
Most of the attendees were local, although there was an important representation of other countries like Mexico, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Denmark or Germany and different regions such as the Basc Country, Catalonia and Scotland. The organizing comittee highlighted too the African participation - with the presence of Camerun, Senegal, Uganda and South Africa - as well as Pakistan, Turkey and Argentina.
Organised by the Oregon Developement Department, the event centered the discussions on the relation between cluster developement and sustainability with sessions about climate change and competitiveness, long-term cluster and the impact of entrepreneurship on its developement and how the national policies can include the clusters.
The city of Portland was chosen to host the conference because it is one of the cities that impulsed initiatives to combine sustainability with economic growth and economists, business developers, policy makers and facilitators wanted to explore if the model had any business results or not.
