At a time when much economic development policy is strongly oriented towards the transformation of industries to both boost productivity and bring them in line with environmental and social goals, this webinar explores the roles that clusters play as a tool for transformation.
We ask how cluster policies are interacting in practice with other policies in the transformative toolkit (transformative innovation policies, circular economy policies, industrial transition policies), and what implications these interactions have for cluster policies now and in the future.
Featuring real-world cases from leading international cluster policies in Flanders, Canada, and Cordoba, the webinar is planned as a guided conversation facilitated by Emily Wise (Lund University, Sweden), James Wilson (Orkestra, Basque Institute of Competitiveness), and Madeline Smith (The Glasgow School of Art). Engaging both expert speakers and participants, the session will explore the challenges of designing and implementing cluster policies and their implications for cluster initiatives.
Speakers:
Annie Renders – Head of Unit, Cluster Policy and Strategic Relations, VLAIO, Belgium
Stephen Fertuck – A/Director General, Global Innovation Clusters, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada | Government of Canada
Natalia Seiler – Executive Director, Córdoba Competitiveness Agency, Argentina
