Emiliano Duch


Emiliano Duch - Independent Consultant Emiliano Duch has led the work in helping countries diversify and upgrade their Value Chains to compete globally, using disruptive technologies to make them more inclusive and sustainable. His work expands from leading knowledge products to building the capacity of the World Bank and its client’s teams. He has lead bank projects in Croatia, Haiti, Jordan, Mexico, Tunisia, and supported teams in Algeria, India, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Peru, Russia and South Africa, among others. Before joining the bank, he was in the faculty of the IESE Business School, as Director of its Competitiveness Summer School and Coordinator of the European Union’s Cluster Excellence Initiative. Emiliano Duch was a pioneer in cluster based economic development, being the founder of the first specialized consultancy, Competitiveness.com, working with regional and national governments in the Basque Country, Catalonia, Rhone-Alpes, Lombardy, Yorkshire, Denmark, Sweden, Chile, Mexico and for the EU. He was the founding chairman of The Competitiveness Institute, the leading association of cluster practitioners worldwide. Previously he served in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Spain as Trade Commissioner in the Embassies in Baghdad and Helsinki. He has a degree in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, a Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and a Master in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, where he researched for professor Michael Porter on the application on the competitive advantage of nations.
