Carlos Tarrasón is specialist in Latin American economic and political development with a vast experience working with clusters, innovation and strategy in Brazil, Peru and Europe. Currently partner and CEO of Cluster Consulting, the company works for regional governments and development institutions to foster regional economic development through cluster competitiveness and innovation. Work based on proven methodologies and deep strategy business experience. He has more than twenty-five years of experience working in consulting. During the last twenty years he has been working in Brazil, Peru, Equador and Dominican Republic in economic development for IDB and various consulting firms and previously worked in Europe in strategic consulting at The Boston Consulting Group and Mitchell Madison Group (Mckinsey spin-off). Carlos has participated in more than 50 cluster projects in Catalonia and the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Parana, Bahia, Rio Grande do Sul and Piaui developing cluster initiatives and strategic plans, as well as strengthening and advising institutions in competitiveness policies in Brazil. He has experience reinforcing clusters and sectors in the areas of agri and agro-food (coffee, bakery, dairy, fruits, food tech, etc.), ICT, smart cities, life sciences, electronics, furniture, fashion (clothing, shoes, home textiles, beach fashion, underwear) and Tourism. He has also a wide experience working with innovative projects while working with IADB-MIF in Brazil where he advised in the management of 34 projects, in very different areas as for example: the development of the financial market for innovative technological companies in Brazil, the development of biotech companies in Minas Gerais, the attraction of large international direct investments for fruit production in the North East of Brazil, among others. He detains a Bachelor degree in Business Administration by ESADE, MBA by ESADE & Indiana University, and a Master of Arts in International Relations by School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS-JHU). Fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish and Catalan.
