From February 3-5, TCI Network participated in a new Accelerate GDT Interreg Europe Project workshop focused on the role of cluster managers in cross-cluster green and digital transition collaboration, hosted by the National Development Centre (NDC) in Budapest, Hungary.
Over 40 cluster managers, policymakers, and experts from across Europe gathered to explore the crucial role of cluster organizations in facilitating green and digital transitions. Over the course of three days, participants engaged in various activities aimed at sharing best practices, discussing policy recommendations, and strengthening regional networks.
On the first day, partners arrived and took part in a Policy Instrument Meeting to align on strategic objectives and discuss relevant policy instruments. A key focus was supporting the newly joined Ukrainian Cluster Alliance (UCA) in developing their cluster policy, considering the unique challenges posed by the ongoing war. During the meeting, representatives from ACCIÓ, NDC, and Munster Technological University (MTU) shared insights into their regions' cluster policy development processes.
The second day centered around the Transnational Public Meeting, where Hungarian officials highlighted the importance of cluster development for innovation. A seminar explored business solutions for green and digital transitions, followed by a presentation on the Hungarian Cluster Strategy and collaborative efforts by the Hungarian Cluster Alliance. In the afternoon, participants engaged in roundtable discussions, sharing experiences on topics such as circular economy initiatives, cybersecurity, regional digital strategies, and the development of industrial twin transition roadmaps. A "Cluster Mini Expo" study visit offered a practical insight into successful cluster initiatives. The day concluded with a group session, where participants discussed the steps needed for successful transitions and identified areas where additional support mechanisms could be integrated into cluster policies.
The final day featured an interactive "Region to Region - Speed Dating" session, where participants shared their understanding of cluster ecosystems and discussed how to integrate transition supports into cluster policies. This session provided deeper insights into the diverse challenges and opportunities faced by each region and fostered focused discussions on improving cluster policies and supporting green and digital transitions.
The meeting provided valuable opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and collaboration, contributing to the advancement of green and digital transitions through cross-cluster cooperation.
